Abstract

Background: Air pollution is a leading environmental risk factor for a variety of chronic diseases, including respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. With the growing urbanization and industrialization across the globe, air pollution has become a significant public health concern. This article reviews effective preventive strategies aimed at mitigating the health impacts of air pollution.
Methods: This review evaluates studies and interventions from 2015 to 2024, focusing on the effectiveness of public health policies, technological advancements, community-based initiatives, and behavioral changes in reducing exposure to air pollution.
Results: Strategies such as air quality monitoring, stricter emission regulations, green urban planning, and public awareness campaigns have been successful in reducing air pollution levels. Additionally, behavioral changes, such as reduced vehicle use and the adoption of clean cooking technologies, have had a measurable impact on air quality.
Conclusion: Preventing the adverse health effects of air pollution requires a multi-pronged approach, including policy changes, technological innovation, and public health campaigns. A collaborative effort across governments, industries, and communities is essential to reduce the health burden associated with air pollution.
