Abstract

Background: Chronic pain is a pervasive condition that affects millions of individuals worldwide. Physical therapy plays a crucial role in managing and alleviating chronic pain, especially musculoskeletal pain. This article reviews innovative physical therapy techniques for chronic pain management, including manual therapy, dry needling, and myofascial release.
Methods: This review evaluates studies from 2016 to 2024 that investigate physical therapy techniques for chronic pain management. A particular focus is placed on manual therapy, dry needling, and myofascial release, assessing their effectiveness in reducing pain and improving functional outcomes.
Results: Manual therapy, dry needling, and myofascial release have shown significant benefits in reducing pain intensity, improving mobility, and enhancing patients' quality of life. These techniques are especially effective in conditions like fibromyalgia, chronic low back pain, and osteoarthritis.
Conclusion: Physical therapy, using innovative techniques such as manual therapy, dry needling, and myofascial release, plays an essential role in the management of chronic pain. These therapies, when integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan, can improve pain relief and functional outcomes for patients with chronic pain.
