Abstract

Background: Radiation oncology remains a cornerstone in the treatment of cancer, offering patients the ability to target tumors with high precision. Innovations in treatment technologies and a deeper understanding of tumor biology have significantly advanced the field. This article reviews the latest trends in radiation oncology, focusing on the integration of personalized treatment plans, precision therapies, and the role of immunotherapy in radiation treatments.
Methods: A literature review of studies from 2015 to 2023 was conducted to explore current advancements in radiation oncology, including innovations in imaging techniques, treatment modalities, and combination therapies. Key developments in personalized radiation therapy, adaptive radiation therapy (ART), and radiosensitization with immunotherapy were highlighted.
Results: Recent advancements in radiation oncology, including precision radiation delivery methods and the combination of radiation therapy with immunotherapy, have shown promise in improving treatment outcomes and reducing adverse effects. Enhanced imaging and AI integration have allowed for better tumor delineation, while adaptive radiation therapy is optimizing personalized treatments.
Conclusion: The future of radiation oncology lies in further integration of precision medicine, improved imaging techniques, and novel combination therapies. By personalizing radiation treatments and leveraging immune-modulating agents, radiation oncology is poised to significantly enhance cancer care in the coming years
